about us

Wake up with a smile while overlooking the Amstel River, enjoy breakfast while feeding the ducks, walk through the crowded streets with a coffee to go, discover the canals by boat or dream away while riding your bike… The HouseBoats are really well located on a nice part of town. And offcourse; the Amstel River.

Since 2011, little AMSTEL HouseBoat is a Bed & Breakfast welcoming guests from all over the world. Sleeping on a houseboat is a true experience one will never forget. Current resident/owner took over the boat end of 2017. Our aim is to focus on a complete experience with (water)bicycle hire, swims in the river and maybe even boat tours to Ouderkerk!

In 2019 we acquired another boat. This one is more suitable for 2 couples and families. Or travelers who require more space and luxury. It's actually an entire house/apartment. With the decks around it you can enjoy Amsterdam's water first row. Being next door from the Amstel Intercontinental hotel, we named it next to AMSTEL .

AMSTEL HouseBoats is a family run B&B business. With Granny, Son, Daughter, Cousin an kids involved. And ofcourse: Dwayne… We work close with local partners to give you a stay of a lifetime!

We hope to welcome you onboard soon... Kindest Regards, team AMSTEL HouseBoats

how we started

I have always had an attraction to houseboats. Probably because my grandparents had a beautiful houseboat on the Kaag in the summer months. I liked to stay there as a child.
There was a dream to one day live on a boat in Amsterdam. I was able to realize this by purchasing a boat on which a B&B had been operating since 2013 in 2017. That was little AMSTEL.
This is how my mother also became charmed by Amsterdam and the water. The opportunity to see her grandchildren more often also played a role, by the way. That became next to AMSTEL.
Recently, as a family, we purchased a boat and a place to live together. This is near the Olympic stadium. Until then, my nephew Philip lives there and takes care of the guests there.

Life on a boat is wonderful and you are closer to nature than in a regular house.
