About the Accommodation

Indulge yourself in luxury and go with the two of you for a super romantic time. Almost the entire boat is available. You'll be using the masterbedroom and the bathroom.

The bedroom has a modern design. And is equipped with all the comforts you would want at home. The luxurious Hästens bed is a true experience, complemented by the massage function.  The hotel linen is the cherry on top. You will never forget this again! In the bedroom you will find a 49" flat screen TV.  From your bedroom you can go out to a deck for your morning coffee (in the sun).

In the recently renovated bathroom you will find design elements (shower, toilet, sink). There is a cabinet to put your own toiletry items too. And of course small and big towels, shampoo and soap.

Whether you're traveling with two couples or as a family; next to the AMSTEL is what you want. The boat easily fits a party of four. When staying with four ppl we will - obviously - put the equivalent amount of small and big towels, shampoo and soap.

In the living room we can create an extra bed for when your party is larger than two people. The mattresses are - again - of superior (LaVital) 5***** hotel bed quality. Topped with hotel linen and a 55" flat screen TV. We've created a small corner with a Nespresso machine and tea making facilities. There is a small fridge to cool items.

When desirable you can make use of our kitchen. We can arrange this for an additional charge of € 50 per night. The kitchen has an induction stove and other design elements. You can also find a bigger fridge pots, pans, cutlery, a toaster etc.

We value design pieces at AMSTEL HouseBoats. In all details we try to make your stay unforgettable. Nice, long lasting materials are used in our furniture and accessories.

Notes

At our boats we respect the environment. We are literally one with nature so we have to.We try to find a perfect balance between comfort and environmental friendliness.

drinking water Using (drinking) water to shower is one of the biggest water consumers in the world. We tried to tackle this by using watersaving showerheads. Producing a mist of water droplets. It is a great spa-like experience. And saving 70% (!!) of water per showering session. We will change your towels and bedlinen after a stay of two/three nights. Resulting in less water usage for laundry purposes. Should you require more frequent cleaning and change of these; just ask and we'll provide extra cleaning at a surcharge.

waste seperation PET bottles are a growing concern. We would like to ask you to separate them in a plastic bag. We kindly ask you to do the same for glass. In the old days HouseBoats used to dispose waste water directly in the canals. Nowadays every HouseBoat is connected to the sewer system by means of pumps. Because of these you can only dispose toilet paper in the toilets. Female products, baby wipes are going to ruin your stay at the boat! Please dispose these items in a garbage can in the bathroom.

flowers & plants We try to create an environment of plants and flowers around the boats. This way you'll have your own little oasis in the bustling city of Amsterdam. Walls are vertically planted to achieve this. The green roofs will help to reduce the harmful fine particulates in the air created by traffic. climate control Our roofs are planted with sedum and help to control temperature in a environmental way. Our properties are - obviously - heated in the winter by smart central heating. Since the sedum cannot reduce the temperature enough on warm days we installed air-conditioning and sunscreens. The air-conditioning is setup to further reduce the maximum temperature on warm days only.

energy We do our utmost with smart meters and scheduled systems and LED lights to reduce unnecessarily energy usage. In the end you - as a user - should do the final step in trying not to leave appliances on whilst not in use. This way we can make our locations less poluting and more sustainable.

Neighbourhood

On the table in the room there is a big leaflet with 'my' neighborhood guide. I introduce you to the things I like best: the small museums, the cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood and the specialty shops. Most of these things are in the direct vicinity of the houseboat.  I hope you enjoy the suggestions. If you think something is missing, let me know! I’d happily check them out and add them to the guide for future guests.

It consists of restaurants, take-out , coffee places, supermarkets, health & safety details.

Transport

next to the AMSTEL is located in the Singelgracht. Literally next to the prestigious Amstel Hotel. The location is not on the Amstel itself, but you can see it (very) well. Added bonus is that this is the good side of the Amstel for the sun. It is on the other side of the (Toronto) bridge coming from little AMSTEL. Towards the side of the Amstel hotel. The houseboat is easy to reach. Because of the central location, the top attractions are always close by. All the way on the bike.
